The island of Corfu was one of the first islands in Greece to welcome tourism. The beach of Agios Georgios Argyradon or St. George Argiradon is a wide sandy beach with shallow blue water in the southern part of Corfu. It is an ideal beach for children, safe and awarded a Blue Flag. Sun loungers and umbrellas welcome guests, as well as a variety of taverns, cafes and hotel accommodations. Agios Georgios Argyradon is not a traditional village with permanent residents but the sandy beach of the village of Argyrades of South Corfu. Argyrades is one of those picturesque villages in the Corfu countryside, where everyday life has kept its atmosphere of the past and time passes slowly and nostalgically. Three decades ago, the beach was pristine, with only water and sand, and very few locals had their homes in the area. Today it is a cosmopolitan area that attracts hundreds of visitors every day.
